Segovia...(forever!) + THANKS!

...oh, and there was also the Cathedral - yes, another one - and the (amazing) Aqueduct! Getting lost is quite the theme, but at least I made it back to the train station for my return to Madrid. Yes, sometimes taking detours and assuming I´ll figure my way with a map is less than optimal and relaxing why to travel and sightsee. Uf.

Realized midway through the day that its´s Thanksgiving at home. Wow. To my family and friends back home - thanks for being who you are and what you mean to me. <3 A posting I did 5 years ago in China is still just as apropos (if not more); as for those who´ve entered my life post-china and recently, many thanks to you too for making my life even more full and meaningful. Dinner certainly wasn´t turkey and all the (stuffing) trimmings but it was quite the Spainish inspired meal (i.e. gulles salad with eggs and red peppers, chorizo and lox with freshly baked baguette).

Today was quite awesome. Not only was is perfect that the tickets I wanted to buy to head to Segovia was sold-out, I ended heading back to bed for some extra hours of sleep and scheduled a time to meet with Patricia (a.k.a. ¨the physical-psychotherapist,¨ Spaniard from the Publeo Ingles).

We met at the garden inside the Atocha station, ¨by the bronze statue, with a hat, luggage and umbrella,¨ as instructed by Patricia. Made it to the rendezous in the nick of time, the station is at least twice the size of Grand Central so I had to run-it cause, I totally got lost. Luckily I was able to ask for directions (yes, in Spanish!) for the garden - whew! We walked about the Southeast part of the city, around the park, stopped for a cuppa cafe con leche, and then got dropped off at the Prado (for my gratis evening entertainment). Yes it was great!

Cordoba

Midway from Sevilla to Madrid

sunny

Dashed to the bus station with 5 minutes to spare for my ride from Sevilla to Cordoba. I´m off with my solo traveling once again. A tad nervous but also excited to begin the rest of my journey around Spain. Cordoba was the a wonderful backdrop for a lowkey day. I got to stroll about the town (pratcially void of other travellers and the noise from the city) and just go about my own time. While the sigts were nice and I certainly got them on ¨film,¨ I wasn´t bothered that the Mezquita was closed. After learning about, seeing and visiting so many Arab-Moorish, Christian, and Jewish architeture and grounds the images were starting to blend; however, the grandjer of the place might have needed an indoor visit, as it really didn´t seem quite so impressive to be called the largest Mosque in Spain. Maybe after seeing the 3rd largest Cathedral (in Sevilla) the muted color and less elaborate etches on the walls of the Mosque just didn´t measure up for me. Regardless, Cordoba was wonderful 1st stop for the last leg of my journey.

While a tad cooler than Sevilla, we decided to make a daytrip to Cadiz for a totally different part of Spain...the seaside. We were not disappointed. We were welcomed with a sunny day, alfresco dinning with tinto, excitement of possibly really running with the bulls(!) and unforgetable sights (literally...there´s an image that is ingrained in me and I´d really wouldn´t mind forgetting but at last...Bri captured ït in full glory, what an eyeful - needless to say, it was his highlight for sure : ).
